The highly anticipated film, Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, made its debut on May 19, 1999. This prequel, written and directed by George Lucas, marked the beginning of a new era in the Star Wars series. Despite its immense success, grossing over $1 billion worldwide and ranking among the top 50 highest-grossing movies of all time, the film faced criticism from many fans.
