Senator Pratt, who currently serves as the deputy government whip in the Senate, cited her struggle with psoriatic arthritis as the primary factor influencing her choice to step down.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese joined Senator Pratt at her electorate office in Belmont, Perth, to acknowledge her years of service and dedication to the people of Western Australia.
Senator Pratt expressed that managing her health condition becomes significantly more challenging with the demands of frequent travel and parliamentary responsibilities.
Her departure from the Senate is scheduled for mid-2025, coinciding with the conclusion of her current term.

Expressing her decision to retire approximately two weeks ago, she mentioned, “I did the maths, and since being elected, I have literally spent … three months in the air, 24 hours a day off the ground.”
