While the platform predominantly features generic drugs, it has started incorporating branded products like Yaz and Climara, a hormone patch for menopause, available at significantly lower costs compared to their retail prices, with Cost Plus’s standard markup and shipping fees included.
Sebastian Guth, the President of U.S. Pharmaceuticals at Bayer, views the collaboration with Cost Plus as an experimental phase aimed at gathering insights and assessing outcomes for potential future expansions. Despite facing competition from generics, both Yaz and Climara remain popular choices among women who often opt to pay out of pocket, bypassing insurance coverage, in favor of brand names. Guth believes that the partnership with Cost Plus will enhance patient accessibility to these medications.
